Kazanlak

Kazanlak is located in the Kazanlak Valley. Known as the centre of the Rose Valley of Bulgaria Kazanlak region has old tradition for centuries in extracting rose oil and other essential oils - peppermint, lavender, basil, marigold.

  • The Ethnographic Complex "Kulata"
It displays some of the old crafts of Kazanlak (including rose oil). The expositions are settled in two restored houses from the nineteenth century in the oldest district of Kazanlak Tower.
 
  • Rose Museum
The museum is at the Institute of Rose and the production of essential rose oil and is unique. It traces the traditional and modern production in Bulgaria.
It was built in 1828. It was a hospital for wounded Russian soldiers and Bulgarian volunteers during the Russian-Turkish War. Some of them are buried in the country yard.

 
  • Kazanlak Thracian Tomb
It is included in the list of 100 National Tourist Sites and is in the 91st place. It is from the late fourth and early third century BC, located in Tulbeto hill near Kazanlak.
